The Online System of Assessment is intended to enable prospective students with foreign school qualifications or certificates, who want to register for first-degree studies at South African public universities to assess whether they meet the exemption requirements or not.

The applicant will be required to select one of three study options:

• undergraduate studies at a university or comprehensive institution
• undergraduate studies at a university of technology or
• postgraduate studies for a degree or diploma

Once an option is selected, follow the instructions and provide the required information, then click ‘assess’. The system results will then state whether the applicant meets the minimum legal requirements or not. If the applicant is successful, hard copies of certificates will have to be sent to the Matriculation Board for verification and issuance of the exemption certificate.
